- Hey, I think I fixed my own problem. I had installed the Standard
- 28.8 modem in Control Panel | Modems to see if it would have the same
- problems. Guess what, no more problems. The RS light would stay on
- but it would connect on second connections. You were right, RS light
- had no correlation to the not connecting on second attempt problem!

- I went through all of the modem properties to see what was different
- between the Standard 28.8 settings and the V.Everything and the only
- thing I had changed previously on the V.Everything was the port speed
- from 57600 to 115200. After changing it back to 57.6 for the
- V.Everything, *everything* is working fine!

- Why increasing port speed will cause this behavior is beyond me, but
- at least its working. Now the question is: Will this affect modem
- performance at all? Mom always said, "use the highest port speed
- possible..."
